A Bike Tour Through City Markets

Amsterdam's life behind the curtains: feel like a real Amsterdammer
PRIVATE BIKE TOUR

Discover Amsterdam's Local Markets: A Guided Bike Tour Experience

There is nothing more interesting in travelling than briefly feel like a local and seeing the world in different perspective. Exactly what we wish to achieve.

We will cycle along narrow canals and busy streets and visit the most interesting city markets. We will enjoy smoked eel and herring, taste farm cheeses, oysters and wine outdoors and learn how to bargain in Dutch flea markets! We cannot be scared either by the weather or by the liveliness at the counter, because this is what we used to do for already five generations (you remember, today we are the native Amsterdammers) and we buy the best waffles in the city!

And little by little we will know how it feels to be local. How do Dutch people raise children and celebrate holidays? How do they choose a profession or build a family? What is important for them and what is not so much? Are they happy at last? Spoiler: case studies say – yeah, quite happy. And that means that this is going to be a happy day for us, filled with excitement and joy. Let's do it!

We will be traveling with you on a bicycle, because this is the most fascinating and authentic way of exploring Amsterdam! We will visit three different markets: grocery, flea and ethnic. Each of them are very popular among Amsterdammers, they come to each purposefully – for the best in the city!

We will try the most delicious things from the local cuisine. And this is not only herring, smoked eel, oysters, sea urchins and freshly baked waffles, but also Vietnamese spring rolls, French fries with peanut sauce, and - for the most courageous - raw meat, and much more!

In search of amazing treasures - from vintage clothes, antique furniture, Delft faience, household items of the XVII century and to vinyl records - we will go to the flea market. You will hear the music of the street organ, we will learn how to joke and bargain in Dutch and make friends with local merchants. And along the way, we will tell you how the city and its inhabitants live today. And we will end the walk with the feeling that we have spent this day in the same way as many Amsterdam residents would have done, and even if for a short while, we'll be part of this amazing city.
Perhaps, you still have some questions. This is what we get asked about most of the time.
